About Capbreton

Capbreton is the only harbour on the Landes coast, a fishing port and marina at the mouth of the Boudigau canal where the trawlers unload beside the pleasure boats and the fish stalls open on the quay each morning. Off the beach lies the Gouf, a submarine canyon that begins a few hundred metres from the shore and gives the town its deep-water swell and its whale-watching trips. The Estacade, a wooden pier from 1858, is the landmark, and the beaches run south from it for kilometres: Santocha and La Piste for surfers, the Prévent for families.

The transfer from the airport follows the A63 past Bayonne to the Capbreton exit and reaches the port in about 45 minutes. Drop-offs reach the apartments and hotels of the seafront, the marina district, the campsites of La Pointe and the villas among the pines; Hossegor, across the canal, has its own page.
