About Espelette

Espelette is the best known of the Labourd villages, its half-timbered houses hung with strings of drying peppers from late summer onwards. The pepper has its own festival at the end of October, the chocolate makers and the ham shops line the main street, and the castle houses the town hall. Ainhoa, ten minutes further, is a single street of seventeenth-century houses listed among the most beautiful villages in France.
